DEATH WAITS ON THE DOORSTEP TONIGHT

Sky was turning black,
I was walking alone and running out,
out of time,
there in the shadows,
lingering close behind unseen,
something came for me,
never was the best of people,
maybe the devil had come to take me down,
deep down to the fire below,
but never been evil neither,
maybe it was an angel sent to take me up above
I knew there wasn't any time left,
death was at the doorstep
smiling a toothy grin,
holding out his nothing but bones hand,
waiting
I know to take it,
but yet here I was not moving an inch,
guess nobody really wanted their lives to end,
Thinking of all the things I coulda done but didn't,
Wonder who'll miss me,
Come on he says,
even though I'm sure he's got nothing but time,

Will I miss this?,
I say to the reaper,
you'll know soon enough,
he says in his old raspy voice,
guess that's what happens when you're nothing but bones,
guess I'll be that way pretty soon too,
"Alright, alright lets go"
"marvelous"
I take his cold white hand,
and I guess that was the end.
For now
at least
Just some poetry that came to me one night.
